AELTA began as a loose network of concerned American
teachers working abroad and has developed into a structured
organization registered in the State of Maryland. AELTA
members overseas collaborate with educators within the
continental USA to achieve the following objectives:
- Promote American educational ideology and teaching techniques through teacher training and consulting to assure a standards- based educational system with an ultimate goal of accreditation.
- Promote literacy of American English Language to help bridge the gaps of cultural differences and misconceptions.
- Promote Peace Education through curriculum design and conflict-resolution training.
- Create a network of communication between overseas teachers and American teachers through an email pen-pal program and collaborative publications, such as newsletters and monthly articles on specified focus issues
