Participant Description

The participant pool included 15 supervisors and 15 teachers from various school districts in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (Table 1). Discussions with administrators at the Ministry of Education indicated that there are no set requirements for staff development training. Training is optional and encouraged, but not mandatory to maintain teaching certification. Therefore, for some participants this program was their first training session, while others had previous training. Teaching experiences ranged from one to nineteen years. All participants had a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in either English or Education, while two out of the thirty participants had completed their Master’s Degree in either USA or UK. Among the supervisors, two were Ministry trainers responsible for designing training sessions for both supervisors and teachers at the Ministry’s Training Center; one was the Head Supervisor responsible for all supervisors in Riyadh.
